Light Casino registration: how to open an account

Light Casino registration comes down to the registration form, a deposit limit and your first deposit. Accounts are open to adults who live in Malta, Ireland, Poland, Finland or Hungary, and we check your identity and age at registration, before that first deposit.

Start with who can register. The documents we ask for, and how long the review takes, are under verification.

Light Casino verification: documents and timing

What we ask for
A passport, national identity card or driving licence, and a proof of address dated within the last three months, such as a utility bill, bank statement or official letter showing your name and home address (Terms 4.2).
When
At registration, before your first deposit (Terms 4.1). An electronic check runs when you sign up, and we ask for documents when it cannot confirm your details; either way, the check is complete before your first deposit.
How the check runs
Automated checks confirm your age and identity, carried out by an identity-verification provider that acts only on our instructions. A member of our staff reviews a flagged case before we close an account, refuse a withdrawal or restrict play. The privacy notice explains how that data is handled.
How long the review takes
Within 24 h of receiving the documents. If one cannot be accepted, we tell you which one and why (Terms 4.4).
While documents are outstanding
You cannot deposit, play or withdraw, but you can still sign in, set limits, take a time-out or exclude yourself (Terms 4.3). The withdrawal page covers what can hold up a payout.
Further documents
We may ask for more whenever the law or our own checks require it, including evidence of where deposited money came from (Terms 4.3). When your net deposits over 30 days pass 5 000,00 €, we review whether your play is affordable and may ask for evidence of income or of where the money comes from before you deposit more.
If the check fails
If we cannot confirm your identity or age, the account is closed and deposits not yet withdrawn are returned to the payment method they came from. Winnings are void only if the account belonged to someone under 18, was opened by a resident of a restricted country, was a second account or was used for fraud; otherwise we hold them and pay them to a payment method in your name once you complete the check (Terms 4.5).
If the account belongs to someone under 18
We close it, return every deposit to the payment method it came from, and void all bets and winnings (Terms 4.6).

Sending a document we can read

Photograph or scan the whole document: all four corners in the frame, every line legible, no glare across the photo or the text, and nothing covered or edited. The name on it has to match the name on your account.

We keep verification documents for 5 years after your account is closed. Anti-money-laundering law requires copies of these documents to be kept for five years after the customer relationship ends, then deleted unless national law provides otherwise (Directive (EU) 2015/849, Article 40(1)). The privacy notice sets out what rights you have over them.

Why we verify

Our licence

Only adults may play, so age has to be proven, not just declared. The terms of our licence from the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA/B2C/1236/2026) and anti-money-laundering law require us to verify who every player is; we also confirm age and address (Terms 4.1). Licences can be looked up on the MGA’s public licensee register. In the EU, anti-money-laundering law works like this:

Gambling providers are covered
EU anti-money-laundering law applies to providers of gambling services (Directive (EU) 2015/849, Article 2(1)(3)(f)). Member States may exempt some low-risk gambling services, but never casinos (Article 2(2)).
What the check involves
Identifying the customer and verifying their identity on the basis of documents, data or information from a reliable and independent source (Article 13(1)(a)), then monitoring transactions over time, including where necessary the source of funds (Article 13(1)(d)).
When it applies
When a business relationship is established (Article 11(a)) and, for gambling providers, when winnings are collected or stakes are placed in transactions of EUR 2,000 or more, in one go or in several linked ones (Article 11(d)). Verification takes place before the relationship is established or the transaction carried out (Article 14(1)), although Member States may allow it to be completed during the establishment of the relationship where the risk is low (Article 14(2)).
From 10 July 2027
Regulation (EU) 2024/1624 applies from 10 July 2027 (Article 90) and applies directly in every Member State; the directive is repealed from the same date (Directive (EU) 2024/1640, Article 77). The regulation keeps a EUR 2,000 threshold for gambling providers, reached by one transaction or by several smaller ones that add up to it (recital 64).

Is there a bonus for signing up?

No. Opening an account adds no bonus money and no free spins. The one offer is the Full Spectrum Welcome on your first deposit, 100% of it up to 200,00 € plus 50 free spins on Book of Dead at 0,10 € each, and it applies only if you choose it in the cashier.

How to claim it is on the promotions page; the rules behind every bonus are in the bonus policy.

Play in control

Decide your limits before you play, not after a losing session.

Deposit limit

A ceiling on what you can deposit per day, week or month. Lowering it applies immediately; raising it waits 72 h.

Time-out

A break from play for 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or 6 weeks. Blocked until it ends: deposits, bets, bonuses and every marketing message; withdrawals stay open.

Self-exclusion

Your account is closed for at least 6 months. Reopening early: not possible before the period you chose ends.
